What we set on your device, why we set it, and how to turn it off.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags and software development kits. They allow a site to recognise a returning device, remember preferences and understand how the site is used.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are “first-party”. Cookies set by another domain, such as an analytics or advertising provider, are “third-party”. Cookies are either “session” cookies, deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them.
2. Categories we use
Strictly necessary. Required for the Site to function and to keep it secure, including load balancing, security protection and remembering your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off in our systems and do not require consent.
Performance and analytics. Help us understand how visitors find and use the Site — which pages are read, how people navigate, and where they leave. This information is aggregated and used to improve the Site. Set only with your consent where consent is required.
Functional. Remember choices you make, such as a dismissed notice, to improve your experience on a return visit.
Marketing and advertising. May be set by us or our advertising partners to measure campaign performance and to show relevant advertising on other sites. Set only with your consent.
Third-party services embedded on the Site, such as our booking provider, may set their own cookies when you interact with them. Those cookies are governed by that provider’s own policy.
3. Your choices
Where required by the law applicable to you, non-essential cookies are set only after you give consent. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie preferences control on the Site, where displayed.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, which allow you to block all cookies, block third-party cookies, delete existing cookies or receive a warning before one is set. Instructions are available in the help section of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and other major browsers.
Blocking all cookies will not prevent you from reading this Site, but some features may not work as intended. Most browsers also offer a “Do Not Track” setting; because there is still no consistent industry standard for responding to it, we do not currently alter our behaviour in response to that signal, and we tell you so rather than implying otherwise.
To opt out of analytics measurement more broadly, tools such as the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on are available directly from the relevant provider.
4. Changes to this policy
We review this policy when we change the services embedded in the Site. The current version is always published here with its effective date. Material changes will be brought to your attention through the cookie control on the Site.
